the most feared mayors from the right

Colau, Carmena and Ribo, the success of the most feared mayors from the right

Two years have passed since governments change the main Spanish cities came to power.
Manuela Carmena, Ada Colau and Joan Ribó  took control of  Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia,  the three largest cities in  Spain .
Right, accustomed to govern for years, and all his business and media environment, were on the verge of hysteria.
Some worried about what the new aldermen could find under carpets, others perhaps fearful of losing good business they were doing always at the expense of public money and the past, and we're seeing, sure they would stop being fed with favoritism institutional advertising.
So no wonder that new municipalities, and particularly those of the most emblematic cities, they were greeted with an unusual aggressiveness: a handful of savvy bargain was running out.
And then a sensible, regardless of ideology, people shamed the treatment that was given to Manuela Carmena  from the opposition, led by the outspoken  Esperanza Aguirre  and also from the media satellites political and economic right.
Fortunately, insults, permanent intrusion into his private life, ridicule and humiliation with which they tried to ridicule, did not achieve their goal and  Manuela  now chairs the City Council  has reduced its debt  in two years.
A Ada Colau something similar happened.
If  Carmena  came to the mayor aupada by  now Madrid  and the  votes of the PSOE , in the case of  Colau  braces were most diverse. Barcelona in Comú,  his coalition, won 11 council members and was supported by  ERC, PSC and CUP  to unseat the convergent  Xavier Trias .
Ada from the beginning also suffered tremendous pressure, but there still, growing daily in prestige and influence.
Joan Ribó,  in Valencia, said in his inauguration definitely something that defines the new style of our three protagonists:
"The control rod is not my way of governing , I do not need, I prefer dialogue with residents and neighbors".
On Wednesday I was with him at Valencia and I saw him as, like almost always- moving bike, close, quiet, patient, attentive to what happens in every corner of the city.
also down debt, pacifying traffic slowly and sometimes suffering pressure certainly well calculated to push those who fear that extend in time the mandate of decent people in town halls.
Because this is the really important issue.
Large Spanish cities -and medium and small- have been too long in the hands of predators in the market. Urbanism, public services, infrastructure, controlled by the economic right, have been drawing some aggressive, uneven, contaminated increasingly inhospitable and ruined cities.
And although today it is easy to see the mistakes, the pressure of money continues. It is therefore important that our elected officials tighten teeth and be brave.
It is therefore essential to seize the two remaining years ahead to show that you can do things differently.
In this hot week in June we attended the third motion of censure since the restoration of democracy after the long Franco dictatorship. We also celebrated the 40th anniversary of the first democratic elections.
But I think the most important for the future milestone was the second birthday of the municipalities of change. His example of agreements and management should be the model to expel the PP Government of Spain.
The PSOE and United We should park personal and party interests and focus on achieving that objective.
