Si te dejó preocupado saber que en Florida ha habido 134 avistamientos de ovnis en los últimos seis meses, tenemos una noticia buena y una mala. La buena es que el Pentágono ya tiene en marcha su nueva oficina dedicada por entero a controlar los objetos voladores no identificados. La mala, que este departamento de reciente creación ya ha registrado “cientos de avistamientos” de cuerpos voladores desconocidos.
Las últimas declaraciones públicas del Pentágono sobre este tema se remontan a 2021, cuando el organismo reveló una cifra no demasiado tranquilizadora: solo uno de cada 144 casos de avistamiento de ovnis se resuelve. Cuando los periodistas preguntaron al oficial al cargo en aquella rueda de prensa si alguno de los casos investigados suponía una amenaza para la seguridad nacional, el oficial dijo: “Sí”. Todo muy reconfortante.
Las investigaciones del Pentágono, que cubren incidentes relacionados con ovnis avistados desde 1996 hasta la actualidad, ya no están en manos de la oficina de Unidentified Aerial Phenomena —Fenómenos aéreos no identificados, en inglés—. Desde ahora, estos asuntos pasan por un nuevo departamento, renombrado AARO, por las siglas de All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office —Oficina para la resolución de anomalías de todo tipo—, que prestará tanta atención a los objetos desconocidos que aparezcan en el espacio aéreo como a los que se avisten en la superficie o incluso bajo el agua. Parece que las tropas aéreas del ejército de Estados Unidos tienden a detectar muchos más objetos voladores no identificados de los declarados, pero no informan de su avistamiento por miedo al estigma. La nueva oficina se ha propuesto atajar ese problema.
Por el momento, ninguno de los cientos de avistamientos que han hecho saltar los radares del departamento para ovnis del Pentágono es de origen extraterrestre. O eso aseguraron los líderes de la nueva oficina en una rueda de prensa: “No hemos visto nada que nos lleve a pensar que alguno de los objetos que hemos avistado pueda ser de origen alienígena. Tampoco nada que sugiera que ha habido un contacto alienígena o que una nave alienígena se haya estrellado en la Tierra”. Eso nos deja mucho más tranquilos.
Sin embargo, el doctor Sean Kirkpatrick, líder de la recién formada AARO, se ha negado a ofrecer una cifra exacta de cuántos de los cerca de 400 ovnis que se están rastreando en este momento han sido correctamente identificados.

La Marina de los Estados Unidos confirmó recientemente por primera vez que una serie de imágenes asombrosas y detalladas captadas en vídeo que parecen mostrar ovnis volando por el cielo son auténticas y contienen extraños fenómenos que los militares todavía no logran reconocer.
Fenómenos aéreos no identificados
El asombroso vídeo en cuestión, que empezó a salir en medios como The New York Times desde diciembre de 2017, fue grabado por pilotos de la propia institución y obtenido posteriormente por un equipo privado de investigación llamado To The Stars Academy of Arts & Science (TTSA), cuyo fundador es el músico estadounidense Tom DeLonge.
Si bien el vídeo en su momento fue desclasificado, parece que ahora no es el caso, o no al menos para el portal web de inteligencia The Black Vault.
Según ese portal, Joseph Gradisher, portavoz de la Marina de los EE.UU. habría informado que las imágenes captadas son auténticas:
La Armada designa los objetos contenidos en estos VÍDEOS como fenómenos aéreos no identificados.
“La terminología ‘Fenómenos aéreos no identificados’ se utiliza porque proporciona el descriptor básico para los avistamientos / observaciones de aeronaves / objetos no autorizados / no identificados que se han observado entrando / operando en el espacio aéreo de varios campos de entrenamiento controlados por militares”.
No obstante, Gradisher aclara que esto no significa que en los vídeos de observen extraterrestres, o que la institución militar esté sugiriendo que lo son. En realidad lo que quiere decir es que los fenómenos aéreos no identificados (UAP, pos sus siglas en inglés) son objetos a los cuales no se les puede identificar.
Nueva terminología militar
Anteriormente la Marina de los EE.UU. había utilizado otro acrónimo para describir a estos objetos misteriosos: vehículos aéreos anómalos (AAV), y la documentación filtrada del Pentágono muestra que los militares estadounidenses han estado estudiando durante varios años los extraños fenómenos, aunque no lo manifestaron exactamente.
“La Marina no ha publicado los vídeos al público en general”, dijo Gradisher a The Black Vault , sugiriendo que el torrente de cobertura mediática que rodea este tipo de vídeos nunca fue parte del plan del Pentágono.
Tal vez aún estemos lejos de conocer qué son estas cosas realmente, pero tanto el cambio en la terminología militar como la confirmación oficial de la existencia de fenómenos no identificados, ha sorprendido a muchos.
Por su parte, el investigador experto en ovnis Roger Glassel, explicó así lo que se puede considerar “una nueva forma de actuar” de los militares estadounidenses:
Que la Marina esté usando el término ‘Fenómenos aéreos no identificados’ muestra que han ampliado lo que se espera que informen los pilotos de combate estadounidenses para investigar cualquier cosa desconocida en su espacio aéreo que en el pasado se haya relacionado con un estigma.
Glassel concluye que aún queda por verse si estas investigaciones se deben al interés en encontrar la causa del fenómeno OVNI, en un sentido de la ufología, o debido a la reducción de los riesgos de vuelo o para contrarrestar intrusiones no identificadas por adversarios conocidos, y la preparación para la sorpresa tecnológica.
