Gateway to the Gods
- A New Approach to the Mysteries of Ancient Egypt -
Our research for The Stargate Conspiracy (Conspiracy Star Gate), but led mainly to opening the aforementioned conspiracy in the title, also opened more positive and stimulating pathways that offer a solution for some of the ongoing mysteries of ancient Egypt.
Previously we talked about the two most popular theories proposed to explain the puzzle of unaccountably advanced techniques of the ancient Egyptians that the ancient Egyptians learned their skills from a lost, civilization or extraterrestrial visitors.
We would now like to offer an alternative theory, which, although not evoke the Atlanteans or space gods, still has an otherworldly quality resolutely.
The technical achievements of the ancient Egyptians, as more clearly shown in the construction of monuments such as the Great Pyramid and the Sphinx of Giza, and the questions they pose to conventional historians, are too well known to need to repeat themhere.
But it was not only in this area that the Egyptians were so sophisticated. Even in the shallow field of cosmetics, recent discoveries have shown that practical application of chemistry was far from primitive.
Indeed, they did what Givenchy and Christian Dior have just started to do: active sunscreens incorporated in creams base. However, the most intriguing was the extraordinary cosmological knowledge that can be found in religious texts.
The earliest known religion in ancient Egypt was that of Heliopolis. Now buried under a suburb of Cairo, and marked by a lone obelisk, the city of Heliopolis was the largest religious center of ancient Egypt, and home not only of what we call religion, but also of all other kinds of knowledge, from medicine philosophy and cosmology.
The high priest of Heliopolis also had a title that translates as "chief astronomer". Imhotep, the genius who designed and built the first pyramid, the Step Pyramid of Djoser at Saqqara, was a priest of Heliopolis.
We do not know when it was established Heliopolis, but we know that when records began in Egypt she was already the supreme religious center. Heliopolis religion was the religion of the pyramid builders. In fact, the three pyramids of Giza align with Heliopolis, which is 20 kilometers away. This is an alignment that is even accepted by Egyptologists. Heliopolis religion is encapsulated in the famous Pyramid TextsWhich they are hieroglyphic inscriptions that cover the walls of some pyramids of the Fourth Dynasty.
Although the oldest inscriptions date from about 200 years after the construction of the Great Pyramid , there is no doubt that the texts are much older.
By studying these texts, we can discover not only what the Heliopolitan clergy believed in a religious sense, but also the extent of their knowledge in other areas.
The central theme of the Pyramid Texts is the journey of the King to the underworld - or rather, the underworld alleged - in which he is identified with the god Osiris and ascends to heaven, where he is transformed into a star. In this kingdom of another world he has many adventures in which he encounters various gods and others, and he has to persuade them to accept into their ranks.
When this happens, he is reincarnated as his own successor in the form of Horus, son of Osiris.
The most important revelation of the Pyramid Texts is that heliopolitana was essentially monotheistic religion (Akhenaten fans please note). Although there were many forms of gods, it was understood that all of them represented many aspects of the One God, Aten.
In fact, all living things were considered as parts of Aton, including mankind.
Heliopolitana in the story of Creation, at the beginning the Universe was an empty report and watery called Nun. This a phallus - shaped hill, the primeval mound, the center of all creation emerged. On this hill, Aton masturbated to reach an explosive orgasm that gave birth to the universe and seeded with life.
This act, the universe expanded outward, becoming increasingly complex and unfurling through the many levels of creation, until sprang into existence the material world we inhabit. Aton was hermaphroditic, encompassing both the masculine and feminine principles.
But immediately after his creative act two beings, the god Shu and goddess Tefnut emerged. Tefnut is another name for Ma'at, the goddess of eternal justice and balance. Shu is the male principle, the active force, and Tefnut the feminine principle that limits, controls and directs the man.
The duality principle - similar to the Taoist yin-yang - is fundamental to the Heliopolitan system.
Union of Shu and Tefnut were born Geb, the god Earth, and Nut, the sky goddess. They, in turn, gave rise to the famous double pair of twins - brother and sister - Isis and Osiris, and Nephyts and Set. They express the principle of duality in two ways: male and female, and light and dark.
Here are the nine gods of the Great Ennead, but they remain only as expressions of Aton, which reach all levels of creation, from the empty Nun to the world of matter in which we live. For Heliopolitan, Osiris was also Geb and Shu, and Aton.
Through the offspring of Isis and Osiris, the magical child Horus, the system is repeated.Horus becomes the head of the Ennead Minor, the nine gods of this world. Horus is for this plane of existence that Aton is for the universe. Horus is indeed the god of this world. The Heliopolitan system is multilayered and express several ideas at once an extremely elegant way.
For example, an association of images, the appearance hill Aton from Nun was compared with the sunrise, and the "birth" diary of this was seen as a microcosm of the event of the original creation.
Why Aton is associated with the sun god Ra, sometimes referred to as Aten-Ra.
This explains most of fluidity and apparent confusion in the way the ancient Egyptians seem to have mixed and coupled to their gods. For example, the association of Aten and Horus explains why the Sphinx of Giza was called in various ways, and simultaneously, as the "Living Image of Aten", Horakhti ( "Horus of the Horizon") and Ra-Horakhti.
She was built to face the rising sun, Ra, which corresponds to the creation of the universe by Aton, who also was identified with Horus, head of the Ennead Minor and God of this world.
But there is more to this complex and elegant than simply a series of metaphysical correspondences system. In the Heliopolitan myth of creation, the universe springs from a singularity and expands, becoming increasingly complex as they are born new levels of creation until the material world we live appears.
This is strikingly similar to modern theories of the origins and evolution of the universe, the "Big Bang" and the expanding universe. But Heliopolitan myths go far beyond this.
Although Nun, the original vacuum is formless, it is also described as water. It is within this that appears Aton Hill, which is equated with the sun. Interestingly, scientists have discovered only recently that water is found in interstellar space in much larger quantities than previously considered possible.
It is now believed that such water clouds play a vital role in creating stars, or, in other words, suns. Modern scientists, indeed, are saying that the suns emerge from the water, cloud water reports.
Is it possible that the priests and priestesses of Heliopolis knew this too?
There is another equally provocative parallelism. Recently, a NASA team investigating the origins of life in the Universe made an astonishing announcement. For decades scientists have been trying to create in the laboratory, some of which are complex molecules necessary for life, and have always failed. However, the NASA team recreated the conditions encountered within the clouds of gas in interstellar space, and found that these extremely complex molecules could not only be created very easily but practically formed themselves.
It is, therefore, easier for the molecules necessary for life to evolve early in the space on a planet. They are probably "planted" then the planets by comets, where they can then begin to evolve into more complex life forms.
This led even the team leader from NASA to declare: " I'm beginning to really believe that life is a cosmic imperative". In other words, life - or the potential for life - exists throughout the universe. Writer and researcher Philip Coppens Belgium has indicated that this is implicit in the Heliopolitan creation myth, in which Aton alive seeding the universe. It is highly significant that the most sacred object of Heliopolis has been the ben-ben, most Egyptologists believe you may have been meteoric stone. The name "ben-ben" is derived from the ancient Egyptian word meaning "seed" or "sperm" brilliantly encapsulating the concept of seeding life on Earth by space objects. Faced with these understandings - as well as the famous mysteries of advanced technical skills of the ancient Egyptians - of course we come to consider the question of where they had acquired such knowledge.
Where, or from whom they had learned such things?
But we also did another question. These mysteries have to do with things that happened in the ancient past, and the obvious problem is that we can not study the past directly. We can not go back in time and see what happened for ourselves.
So we are left with the interpretation of archaeological and textual evidence, which inevitably lead to some degree of speculation.
The question we asked was:
We believe there is .
But first it is worth considering how we tend to think that people learn new skills. We normally think there are only two ways, whether we are talking about an individual or a civilization or learn for ourselves by experimentation or by trial and error, or someone else (who is already trained) teaches us. This is, in short, the problem of anomalous sophistication of ancient Egypt (and many other ancient civilizations). There is no archaeological evidence of a process of gradual development of these skills.
Therefore, logically we have to resort to the second method, and assume that they were taught these things by a lost civilization or ancient astronauts.
But what if there was a third way to acquire knowledge? On an individual level, we know that there are: inspiration. But can this be applied to an entire culture? And if so, what would be the mechanism behind it ?; Is there any evidence for that? There is. And it is something that is taking place today.
During our research we find the innovative work of a Swiss anthropologist named Jeremy Narby , who in 1995 wrote a book called " The Cosmic Serpent - DNA and the Origins of Knowledge ".
About fifteen years ago, Narby was studying the indigenous people of the Peruvian Amazon, and was fascinated by the amazing botanical knowledge they had, specifically for their use of plants for medical purposes and others. What intrigued him was how this supposedly primitive people had acquired this knowledge.
Since they have no science in the sense that we understand it , they must have learned to make their medicines by the method of trial and error. But there are about 80,000 species of plants growing in the Amazon rainforest, so to discover an effective remedy using only two of them theoretically require testing every possible combination, a little less than four billion.
But many of their medicines involve not only two floors, but several.
If they had found their recipes through experimentation, it would have taken millions of years to find only a few, and yet, they have a huge variety of medicines and other useful substances. Added to this, the preparation of many of them involves a lot of time and complex processes with many stages. The classic example is the curare.
This is a powerful poison whose ingredients derived from several different plants, and indicates Narby, fits a very precise set of requirements.
Hunters needed something that, being smeared on the tips of blowgun darts, not only kill an animal but also ensure that there would tighten his fist death in one arm of a river and died out of reach (as often It happens to animals killed by arrows).
And the meat should be safe to eat. This seems to be a very demanding order, but curare meets all these requirements perfectly. It is a muscle relaxant, which kills by stopping the breathing muscles. Is effective only when injected directly into the bloodstream - here it is applied by means of a blowpipe - and has no effect when taken orally.
The most common type of curare requires complicated preparation method in which the extracts of various plants are boiled together for three days, during which vapors are emitted lethal. And the end result needs a specific piece of technology - the blowgun - to be applied. How was this discovered? The problem becomes even more incomprehensible because no fewer than forty different types of curare are used in the Amazon rainforest. All do the same job, but use slightly different ingredients, because the same plants do not grow in each region. Therefore, in effect, curare was invented forty times. After being perplexed by such questions long, Narby understood that the best way to find an answer was to ask the same Amazon.
So how do they claim they have discovered curare, and all other substances taken from plants they use? Actually, they do not credit it attributed. They claim that was given to them by the spirits all through their shamans.
Shamans have existed worldwide, especially in tribal societies.
They are the ones who used to be called witch doctors, trance mediums particularly talented and highly trained, who use their talents to heal, find the best hunting and finding water in times of drought. In short, they help solve the problems of the tribe and help them survive.
Chamán does this by entering trance, which can be induced in a variety of forms, from rotating, drumming and dancing, even taking psychoactive drugs taken from plants or fungi.
Those shamans studied by Narby in Peru get their trance ingesting a mixture of a plant called ayahuasca, which mimics a substance found naturally in the human brain and, in large doses, is a powerful hallucinogen. When in trance, the spirit of the shaman goes on a journey into another realm, in which he faces horrible dangers. But once he has beaten his adversaries, it communicates with higher intelligences, which often appear as animals, answering your questions. As in fairy tales, spirits only answer questions that are asked; they rarely, if ever, voluntarily give extra information. Thus, if the shaman asks how to cure meningitis girl people, they will give you this information, but they also tell you how to cure cancer of an old man unless he expressly ask.
And this may mean another trip.
This is what Jeremy Narby Amazonian told about how they know the properties of plants and how to combine them . But they also say that this is how they learned specific techniques, such as carpentry and weaving, in fact, all the arts and crafts necessary for survival.
We must emphasize that knowledge of Amazonian pharmacology (drugs derived from plants and their potential and actual uses) is not only surprising in what we consider primitive people, but actually exceeds that of modern Western science.
Many modern medicines were taken from those used in the Amazon. Curare, for example, it is used in heart surgery. Even the giant pharmaceutical companies do not have the ability to develop products that meet the specific requirements so quickly, so easily - and naturally - as can the Amazonian shamans. This is, in fact, an exact analogy to the problem posed by the anomalous knowledge of the ancient Egyptians, for example, highly sophisticated construction techniques. Although it is two very different fields of knowledge, the basic problem to explain knowledge is exactly the same. Could it be that the ancient Egyptians acquire the knowledge of how to build pyramids by way of shamans, asking the great spirits directly?
You might think that there is too great between brew potions and design and build one of the largest and most durable in the world building step, but Jeremy Narby said that in some ancient American civilizations both skills existed side by side.
The Aztecs, Incas and Mayans built comparable to Egyptian temples, and attributed their knowledge of how to build their gods. But they also claimed that the gods had also taught other arts, such as using plants for healing, and astronomy.
Thus there is a direct analogy to the mysterious knowledge of ancient Egypt, and evidence of its advanced technology, something that is taking place today. So could the heliopolitana religion have been based on a form of shamanism? It is instructive to study the anthropologist Michael Harner experiences among the Conibo Indians of the Peruvian Amazon in the 60s.
He took the hallucinogenic drink of shamans, and later wrote:
People with bird head. Do not we remember this the god Thoth headed ibis and Horus thefalcon-headed?
The Egyptians had many gods with animal heads, including the fearsome lion headed Sekhmet and jackal-headed Anubis. Do they live all through the stargate of shamanic vision?
In the Pyramid Texts there are many passages that are an exact parallel of shamanic experience.
In the Pyramid Texts we read how King, who is identified with Osiris, must confront terrifying ordeals, like the myth of the god himself, in which he was cut into pieces by the evil god Set, being later re-assembled and back to life by his sister-wife Isis.
This is virtually identical to the classic shamanic experience in which the shaman is cut into pieces and magically recomposed before ascending to the world of spirits.
Jeremy Narby made a study of shamanism worldwide, and found many common themes in shamanic visions. An important example is the snake who are carriers of wisdom. This is even in cultures that live in regions where there is no snake. Another common theme is that of the divine twins, also as bearers of wisdom. Narby indicates that the Aztec word "cóatl", as shown for example in the name Quetzalcoatl , means both "snake" and "twin".
This reminds us of the two pairs of twins in the Heliopolitan pantheon:
Another common central element shamanism worldwide is of a scale that connects Heaven and Earth, the shaman goes to find the spirits of wisdom.
As Narby says:
Significantly, the same images are found in the Pyramid Texts.
For example, speaking of Isis as the embodiment of the scale, they say:
The ascent to the Milky Way is a central theme of the Pyramid Texts.
The fact that Isis is personified as the scale is interesting because this brings us to the whole question of the role of women in shamanism. We have been saying "he" whenever we talked about shamans, because virtually all of them are boys.
We were at a conference in London about four years in which Jeremy Narby talked ago.
During the time for questions, someone from the audience asked why he had not mentioned female shamans. He said that the place of women in this is very interesting. In the Amazonian shamanic rituals he had witnessed, the shaman takes ayahuasca, goes into a trance, and then leaves on his flight to the other world.
But next to it there is a woman, and she accompanies him on his journey, experiencing exactly the same views as him. It 's your job to make him remember them when he returns, because shamans often forget their experiences. But she does this without taking ayahuasca.
How can women do this without resorting to artificial means, drugs? It seems that some women find that the shamanic experience comes to them quite naturally.
We do not know the details of this, because in tribal societies male and female mysteries mysteries are kept strictly apart.
Until recently, the vast majority of Western anthropologists have been male, so that if they have been allowed to enter some secret, have been male.
Therefore, the literature on female shamanism is practically nonexistent. The fact that Isis play this role in the Pyramid Texts suggests that women played an important part in the Egyptian shamanism, and we know there were women priests in Heliopolis.
It is generally accepted as a fact that the Pyramid Texts describe the journey of the King to the other world, but there is much internal evidence that this is simply not so well, or rather, they do not describe only a journey to the afterlife absolutely. We believe they actually describe the classic flight "out of body" of the shaman, who is often considered significantly, and physically dead while in his trance, in which he visits the world of the dead. Gods and monsters found in the Pyramid Texts are strikingly similar to those described throughout the world by tribal shamans. There are many ways to enter trance shamans, including twists, dancing, drumming and push the mind and body beyond the limit by an induced pain.
All these techniques produce some form of altered state of consciousness, hallucinations may indeed an apparent lack of physical life and a state of mental and spiritual awareness. But it must be said that the most favored shamanic trance inducing way is through the use of psychoactive drugs.
Jeremy Narby spent much time researching the shamans of the Amazon rainforest, particularly its use of ayahuasca.
The Narby himself took ayahuasca and, although at first put him violently ill, he then entered the sacred state of trance, where he had a particularly significant vision.
He found two gigantic serpents who spoke with him. They told him he was "only human", which humiliated him. He later said they thought induced him he was not then able to have for yourself.
All this made him examine his Western arrogance and pre-conceptions about life and humanity's place in the scheme of things, that led directly to write his groundbreaking book.As we shall see, snakes are very important.
For now, it suffices to say that Narby's own experience showed that the shamanic state can provide knowledge otherwise inaccessible and a completely different way of looking at things.
Narby asked him if he thought his theory of shamanic knowledge acquisition could beapplied to ancient Egypt. He replied that he was unwilling to comment on this, because that was outside their area of expertise, but he suggested that if we could establish that they used drugs for sacred purposes, it would establish a strong connection with shamanic cultures. To be honest, we did not know then if these drugs were used in ancient Egypt, but an incredible synchronicity practically the next day there was a program on Channel 4 series Sacred Plants (Sacred Weeds) on the possible use of blue water lily as a psychoactive drug in ancient Egypt. Indeed, it has been long recognized that the blue lily was important for the Egyptians, because it was depicted in many wall paintings and papyri.
This way even the design of the pillars of Karnak Temple. Egyptologists believe it was so popular simply because it is very beautiful.
There are many paintings of girls practically naked against a backdrop of blue irises glued party - often a little askew - on their headdresses or belts. In fact, the blue lily is so often associated with holidays ambiences that some investigators were led to wonder if they were not, in fact, just beautiful but also recreational drugs.
The program was intended to examine the properties of blue flag and, yes, actually has a psychoactive effect, although Channel 4 was mistaken for caution and only use a very low dose volunteers. However, we have every reason to believe that the ancient Egyptians probably did not have such scruples.
At the end of the program, one of the contributors, the historian Michael Carmichael said that in larger quantities blue lily could be used to induce shamanic trances.
It is perhaps significant that the blue lily was sacred to Aton, the god of Heliopolis. We got in touch with Michael Carmichael and talk about the whole thing. He said it is known that ancient Egyptians used many drugs, including opium, mandrake and cannabis.Carmichael had made a special study of this, but had not heard of the work of Jeremy Narby, though he had practically reached the same conclusions about the acquisition of knowledge during the shamanic trance. We should say at this point that we are in no way encouraging drug use.
It should be noted that shamans are highly trained and experienced in their techniques. Do not think that we can only use one drug or another and then we all extraordinary shamanic visions. We not have. We will get very sick, may suffer psychological problems, and perhaps even die.
There are no shortcuts to spiritual enlightenment. And there are other dangers besides the physical. Not all entities found in the visions are benevolent. Many are trapaceras, inclined to deceive the inexperienced and unwary. Shamans know recognize and circumvent them .
Inexperienced people can be deceived, or even possessed. Thus, we know that it is possible for people to acquire advanced knowledge and sophisticated directly from any source.
Is that how the ancient Egyptians discovered, for example, how to build the pyramids, or the secrets of the cosmos? Indeed, we can paradoxically be able to deduce that this is so from the things that the ancient Egyptians did not know.
Remember: Amazonian shamans get specific answers following specific questions, not less, but certainly no more than that for which they ask.
The Egyptians, for all its advanced construction techniques, they had no concept of architectural arch. The arc is a particularly efficient way to distribute the weight, compared with straight lintels.
However, building giving the shape of an arc requires a conceptual leap and an understanding of weight distribution. Perhaps this also explains the fact that the ancient Egyptians did not build large bridges.
There is mounting evidence that they had no understanding of the complexities of weight distribution.
Recently, the French Egyptologist Jean Kerisel argued that the cracks in the ceiling of the King's Chamber in the Great Pyramid was not caused, as is generally believed, by an earthquake at some point in the long history of the monument, but actually occurred while it was being built.
This happened because the builders did not appreciate the consequences of juxtaposing granite and limestone, which are compressed at different rates.
Despite all the wonders of the construction of the Great Pyramid - extraction, transport, training and placement of such colossal stone blocks - the builders made a simple technical error that would be avoided by any modern architecture student. All about the ancient Egyptians is practice, not theory.
It is as if they had been given specific answers to specific questions, such as the Amazonian shamans. It might seem that there is a big leap from building the pyramids to understand the properties of plants, but we argue that both abilities were the result of the same process.
We do not know the limits of knowledge that can be acquired in the manner of a shaman.
In our previous conversation we were examining the mysterious knowledge of the Dogon tribe of West Africa about the Sirius star system, which Robert Temple believes is derived from actual contact with beings from that system.
But could the knowledge of them have been acquired using shamanic technique, asking the spirits about the brightest star in the sky? There is clearly shamanic aspects of Dogon religion and mythology.
For example, the gods of the Dogon are pairs of twins, which is a common theme of shamanism worldwide.
All tribal cultures use the abilities of shamans, but does this mean that this is a primitive practice, something that comes when a society becomes more sophisticated?
In the Amazon, it is true that shamans give only the information that is necessary for survival everyday, but what if shamanism continued to exist after a culture became more organized and sophisticated ?; What are the limits of knowledge that their shamans could muster would be?
And if the Egyptians had reinforced shamanism in its advanced culture, could they have taken their quest for knowledge to new levels ?; Could the priesthood of Heliopolis have been, indeed, a college of shamans? The big question is:
The whole matter of the reality of the underworld is a complex one that has received little scientific or academic attention, but is now finally starting to attract serious study.
In the final analysis we do not know the answers, but at least some people are starting to ask questions. Jeremy Narby has made an enormously provocative suggestion reflection. We have seen that he identified certain common elements in shamanism worldwide.
It is the theme of the twin gods and snakes as bearers of wisdom, often combined in the form of twin serpents that reveal great secrets.
Narby found himself two giant snakes when he took ayahuasca. There is also the issue of the rope ladder that is screwed or twisted vine. Another issue is that of the spirits that shamans are, who often claim that they are somehow present in every living thing, they are life itself ... A Narby came up , from that statement, which those common images twin snakes and ladders are screwed are descriptions of the DNA double helix. In fact, if the DNA strands are straightened, they seem exactly a rope ladder. What Narby suggests is that the shaman somehow communicates with its own DNA, and it's where he gets the information.
This may seem strange, but you must remember that we do not know the function of 97% of DNA that science calls " junk DNA '(junk DNA ) , but Narby suggests we call" DNA mystery. "
The diversity of life is explained by only 3% of the DNA, so that it seems inconceivable that the other 97% has no role.
But what could he do?
Narby goes on.
He points out that it is known that DNA in a cell really exchanges signals with DNA in other cells. He suggests that, once someone connects with their own DNA, it can then communicate across organisms, across species - even across the boundary between animals and plants - and that the totality of all the DNA in the world forms a matrix.
Perhaps this could explain phenomena such as telepathy and extra-sensory perception.DNA in a cell transmits and receives signals DNA present in other cells.
This is done by emitting photons, ie, they actually exchange signals as light, strangely at a wavelength that is visible to humans. Perhaps it is here where we get the concept of being "enlightened" and this could be a literal description of the "Light" of Gnosticism.
They are just the early days for the theory of DNA, but, in our view , has much in its favor. What is certain is that shamans acquire direct knowledge of any source without trial and error.
This is the knowledge that they did not have before, useful knowledge we can not explain, and often is more advanced than ours. This is something that is happening right now, and there is no suggestion of visitors from lost continents or landings of spacecraft.
We called our book The Stargate Conspiracy , which some take as a reference to the film and television series (Stargate).
Actually, this is quite largely a reference to the ancient Egyptian word "sba" which means both "star" and "gateway". Unlike the concept of the film, in which there is a physical portal through which you can spend to meet the space gods, we suggest that the real stargate is much closer to home.
It is probably even within every cell of our bodies.
Perhaps in search of wisdom gurus and others who have secret agendas, we are really moving away from spiritual enlightenment. Maybe we should recognize that not only the stargate but also the gods are within us all ...
