Are more than 600 children working during carnival in Brazil
City officials urged hawkers to send minors to reservations centers enabled.
The Mayor of the city of Salvador, Brazil, reported Sunday that they have identified 626 children and adolescents subjected to child labor during the carnival.
All children were working as street vendors in areas Concert Salvador, a city that has the second most popular Carnival festivities of the South American nation after Rio de Janeiro.
City officials asked the vendors to send minors to four reception centers authorized by the Mayor for children during the carnival. Of the 626 children and adolescents intercepted by the authorities, only in 87 cases sellers who were traveling with minors were allowed these centers host city, according to an official statement.
The Mayor said that due to the large number of cases, will stifle further employment of children and warned that from Sunday, canceled the operating license street vendors that serve children or adolescents.
