Foreigners already control 43.1% of the shares in the Spanish Stock Exchange

Foreign investors have taken advantage of falling prices by the crisis to mark a new peak in controlling shares listed on  the Spanish Stock Exchange : copan 43.1%, the highest since 1992, when statistics began. 

The Spanish families continue as second owner, with 23.4%, while  banking a new record low is recorded , 3% of the market. 

Non-financial companies have 20.1%, the collective investment and insurance 7.4% and 3.1% Public Administration, as recorded by the BME Report on the distribution of ownership of the shares.

The withdrawal of financial institutions coincides with the arrival of the crisis (in 2007 had 9.4%), with the legislative change that penalizes investment in companies as well as greater efforts to strengthen its capital with all available resources. 

3% current is six tenths less than in 2015 and nearly 13 points less than 1992 when there was a so-called industrial banking.

The share of foreign investors increased seven tenths. A sign of confidence of foreign funds in listed Spanish long term . 

The increase coincides with the departure of park benches and falling prices by the crisis. The funds have been allocated part of the huge liquidity in the market to raise its share 6.3 points in the last nine years.

Families, 23%

2016 families decreased by one percentage point its stake to 23.4%, after three consecutive years of increases. 

The increase and revaluation of the portfolio of listed shares held by families in the crisis has served to boost the value of household assets, which stood at 2.1 trillion in 2016, 1.4% more than a year earlier and 20% more than in 2008.

The position of the government, 3.1% market share, is the highest percentage in the last 19 years, mainly as a consequence of partial privatization and IPO of AENA.
