In the last 40 years, half of marine life has disappeared,
according to the alarming Ocean Live WWF report. In some cases, the reduction exceeds 75 percent, especially in families of fish used for human consumption, such as tuna, bonitos and mackerel.
Among the various factors involved in the dramatic decline in marine life, change climate is positioned as one of the main, to be designated as responsible for a transformation so rapid oceans as had happened in a million years.
"overfishing, destruction of marine habitats and climate change have dire consequences for all human population, being the poorest communities that depend on the sea the most affected. The collapse of ocean ecosystems could trigger a serious economic decline and undermine our fight to eradicate poverty and malnutrition , "said Marco Lambertini, Director General of WWF International.
