The book of Urantia – The Nature of the Infinite Spirit

The Joint Creator belongs to eternity and is totally and not qualified one with the Universal Father and with the Eternal Son. The Infinite Spirit reflects in perfection, not only the nature of the Father of Paradise, but also that of the Original Son.

The Third Source and Center is known for many titles: the Universal Spirit, the Supreme Guide, the Joint Creator, the Divine Executive, the Infinite Mind, the Spirit of the Spirits, the Mother Spirit of Paradise, the Joint Actor, the Final Coordinator, the Onmipresent Spirit, Absolute Intelligence, Divine Action; And in Urantia sometimes it is confused with the cosmic mind.

It is quite appropriate to call the Third Person of the Deity as an Infinite Spirit, because God is a spirit. But material creatures that tend to fail to consider matter as a basic reality, and the mind, together with the spirit, as postulates rooted in matter, would better understand the Third Source and Center if Infinite Reality is called, the Universal Organizer , Or the Coordinator of Personality.

The Infinite Spirit, as a universal revelation of the divinity, is inscrutable and totally beyond the reach of human understanding. To perceive the absolute of the Spirit, it is enough to contemplate the infinity of the Universal Father and be astonished by the eternity of the Original Son.

There is certainly a mystery in the person of the Infinite Spirit, but not as much as in the Father and the Son. Of all aspects of the nature of the Father, the Joint Creator is the one who reveals his infinity in the most spectacular way. Even if the master universe finally expanded to infinity, the spiritual presence, control of energy and the intellectual potential of the Joint Actor would be adequate to face the demands of such unlimited creation.

Although it shares in every sense the perfection, rectitude and love of the Universal Father, the Infinite Spirit manifests a slant towards the attributes of mercy of the Eternal Son, thus becoming the minister of the mercy of the Deities of Paradise for the great universe. Forever ever-universal and eternally-the Spirit is a minister of mercy, because, just as the divine Children reveal the love of God, so the divine Spirit represents the mercy of God.

It is not possible that the Spirit could have more kindness than the Father, since all goodness originates in the Father, but in the actions of the Spirit we can understand better such goodness. The faithfulness of the Father and the constancy of the Son become very real for the spiritual beings and the material creatures of the spheres by the loving ministry and the incessant service of the personalities of the Infinite Spirit.

The Joint Creator inherits all the beauty of thought and the true nature of the Father. But these sublime features of the divinity coordinate in the almost supreme levels of the cosmic mind in subordination to the eternal and infinite wisdom of the unconditional and unlimited mind of the Third Source and Center.
