The director of US National Intelligence, Dan Coats has indicated that criminal and terrorist groups could be actively using Bitcoin digital currency as a means of financing its operations.
Coats said during a committee hearing of the Senate Armed Services , there are certain indications that cryptocurrency bitcoin is being used for that purpose.

When asked by senators on whether the Bitcoin will become the currency of criminals and terrorists, the Republican former senator promised to study the issue.
Recently, the US Congress proposed a bill to assess the threat "posed by individuals using virtual coins to carry out activities that encourage acts of terrorism."
Concerns about the criptomonedas recently been justified following the global cyberattack involving the Bitcoin within their criminal scheme.
It seems therefore that US intelligence could undertake in the coming months a persecution against Bitcoin and other criptomonedas.
