The Vice-President lies on a national security issue and does not resign
The Vice-President of the government Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría, the maximum responsible of organisms critical for the security of our country like the CNI, lied when affirming that the non inclusion of the Mossos d'Esquadra in Europol depends on this European agency.
Europol spokeswoman Tine Hollevoet has pointed out that this issue is a "national matter" of the Spanish state that must be resolved "within Spain". And it has given as an example to the Basque autonomous police that does have access to the data of Europol.
A few weeks ago, the European Police Union (Eurocop) warned that excluding the Mossos from the Europol databases could compromise the security of the whole of Europe.
The president of this union, Corporal Mossos d'Esquadra Angels Bosch, stated that "Europol should have direct contact with all the competent security authorities of each member state".
Now it is known that several of the terrorists of the cell that perpetrated the double attack in Catalonia traveled to Paris a few days before, and in addition, the supposed magnet of Ripoll was living in Belgium for a while.
All this happened with a virtual "wall" between the Catalan police and the rest of European countries, and the inclusion of the Mossos in this agency depended on the central government. But nobody here resigns.
