Feminism to end capitalism

Feminism & Capitalism

on how feminism has now become the movement's capacity for social transformation.

Second fight in much of the history of the labor movement, feminism today takes the lead in austeritario resistance against capitalism. living movement, radical, self-organizing capacity, mass audience and a long list of potentials to drench the rest of struggles. Responsiveness to the call of 8 March 2017 to strike women as well as replicas of the Women's March in the world were the starting of a new cycle of feminist mobilizations. The first strikes and mass mobilizations which both Macri (Argentina) and Trump (USA) were feminists clashed.
And since a few years ago, the role of women in the Arab Spring, in the mobilizations in defense of the public or peasant protests in Latin America is no accident. The neoliberal offensive and misogynistic austeritaria recipe is encountering strong resistance from women. Women who assume reproductive charges inside and outside the home, inside and outside the market, in and out of employment. Its policies of cuts and debt are around double or triple nut in all these areas for us. However, not all women suffer equally across the ravages of the crisis.
Women of the bourgeoisie, the establishment of the ruling classes or the state apparatus are not crossed by the same experiences of dispossession. While we requires all gender it is a role not solve all the same, or we are required all the same. There have been many debates both within Marxism and feminism on the relationship between gender and class. The question I maintain is that we are a strategic sector of the class itself and therefore the anti-capitalist combat. This concept includes, on the one hand, avoid political analysis and self-centered identity.
So that identity where different oppressions singular woman (class, race, sexuality ...) become invisible; as well as a range of plural identities detached from their material substrates that do emerge (and converge!). On the other hand, the second symmetric error is that narrow and homogeneous view class and strategy. A vision where breeding has been systematically postponed to something to solve after the big day of the revolution, as if it came suddenly and out to solve everything. But when self-organizing reproductive work is needed to sustain over time a challenge to capitalism condition. Despite the radical nature of feminism, in the general imagination it is installed illusionism of a return to the golden age of "welfare."
A "welfare" that was not so for most women but still works as a desirable horizon. The crisis is leaving ever-increasing gaps in reproductive functions previously undertaken by the State (education, health, social services ...).
Do the neoliberal recipes these gaps?Commodification and "hogarización". We are in a clash of expectations that will not be made at this stage of capitalism and a change of cycle for which no sufficiently mature socioeconomic strategies. In this clash we can pick up the thread that Nancy Fraser has recently begun to develop.Fraser explains how at the close of the second wave individualist neoliberalism combined with pressure to assume that feminism demands strict recognition. Posibilismo a sort of subordinated leaving redistribution demands and criticism of the whole system.
The recognition was carried out those that could rise socially. Those who could poach the "women's empowerment". Those that fit the neoliberal success. Exactly feminism is not necessarily anticapitalist. However, today we are at the opening of a cycle, how we take and avoid an individualistic output outdo only a few? How do we return to the dialectic between recognition and redistribution? How do we rebuild an anti-capitalist program and a strategy of feminist self-organization ?.
Luckily, we have something on our side: the inherent contradictions of that individualistic and liberal feminism. Background Contradictions between defending the rights of women, combating oppressions we suffer, and do not pose a horizon that exceeds the system that produces these oppressions. Many of the classic demands of feminism remain. However, many of them must pass through the sieve of the passed experiences: participation in the labor market has not been promised economic independence or to end the Family Service Required for most women.
Gender roles have been played on jobs, the wage gap remains a structural data and conciliation has faced only to cheapen women and female labor. Reorganizing work-employment remains one of the outstanding debts. Outstanding debt after decades of neoliberalism. Putting at the center of common care over private interests in a cycle of accumulation by dispossession is a key plank. Ordinary care - plus an emotional issue - is also to ensure everything that makes life possible: food, energy, housing, health ...
If you also advocate a "dignified life" - as expressing feminist activists and ecofeminism economy - the range is extended. Thus, the interests "of women" are not only "our" interests, but the fundamental interests of the social majority and open a field where styling alliances with other sectors dispossessed by capitalism
