Por muchas épocas los habitantes de Urantia han interpretado erróneamente la providencia de Dios. Hay una providencia divina trabajando en vuestro mundo, pero no se trata del ministerio infantil, arbitrario y material que muchos mortales han concebido. La providencia de Dios consiste en las actividades entrelazadas de los seres celestiales y de los espíritus divinos que, de acuerdo con las leyes cósmicas, laboran incesantemente por el honor de Dios y para el desarrollo espiritual de sus hijos en el universo.

¿No podéis vosotros acaso desarrollar vuestro concepto sobre el trato de Dios con el hombre hasta el punto de reconocer que la consigna del universo es progreso? A través de prolongadas edades la raza humana ha luchado para llegar a su estado actual. A lo largo de todos estos milenios la Providencia ha estado laborando en el plan de la evolución progresiva. Estas dos ideas no son opuestas en la práctica, sino tan sólo en los conceptos erróneos del hombre. La providencia divina no se enlista jamás en oposición al verdadero progreso humano, tanto temporal como espiritual. La providencia está siempre de acuerdo con la naturaleza inmutable y perfecta del supremo Legislador.

«Dios es fiel» y «todos sus mandamientos son justos». «Su fidelidad se establece en los mismos cielos». «Para siempre, Oh Señor, tu palabra se ha establecido en los cielos. Tu fidelidad es para todas las generaciones; tú has cimentado la tierra, y permanece». «Él es un Creador fiel».

No hay límites a las fuerzas y personalidades que el Padre puede utilizar para mantener su propósito y sostener a sus criaturas. «El Dios eterno es nuestro refugio, y abajo están sus brazos sempiternos». «El que habita en el lugar secreto del Altísimo morará bajo la sombra del Todopoderoso». «Mirad, el que nos guarda no se adormecerá ni se dormirá». «Sabemos que todas las cosas cooperan para bien de los que aman a Dios», «porque los ojos del Señor están sobre los justos, y sus oídos, atentos a sus oraciones».

Dios sostiene «todas las cosas por la palabra de su poder». Y cuando nacen nuevos mundos, «envía a sus Hijos y son creados». Dios no sólo crea, sino que «los preserva a todos». Dios constantemente sostiene todas las cosas materiales y a todos los seres espirituales. Los universos son eternamente estables. Existe estabilidad en medio de una inestabilidad aparente. Existe un orden y una seguridad subyacentes en medio de los solevantamientos de la energía y los cataclismos físicos de los dominios estelares.

El Padre Universal no se ha retirado de la administración de los universos; él no es una Deidad inactiva. Si Dios dejara de ser el sustentador presente de toda la creación, habría inmediatamente un colapso universal. Excepto Dios, no habría tal cosa como la realidad. En este mismo momento, así como durante las remotas eras del pasado y en el futuro eterno, Dios sigue sustentando. El alcance divino se extiende alrededor del círculo de la eternidad. Al universo no se le da cuerda como un reloj que anda por tiempo determinado y luego cesa de funcionar; todas las cosas están siendo constantemente renovadas. El Padre incesantemente derrama energía, luz y vida. La obra de Dios es tan literal como espiritual. «Él extiende el norte sobre el espacio vacío y suspende la tierra sobre la nada».

Un ser de mi orden puede descubrir la armonía última y detectar una coordinación profunda y vasta en los asuntos rutinarios de la administración universal. Muchas cosas que aparecen desconectadas y fortuitas al pensamiento mortal, se muestran ordenadas y constructivas a mi comprensión. Pero ocurren en el universo muchas cosas que yo no comprendo plenamente. Durante mucho tiempo he estudiado y tengo cierto conocimiento, sobre las fuerzas, energías, mentes, morontias, espíritus y personalidades reconocidas de los universos locales y de los superuniversos. Tengo una comprensión general de cómo operan esas agencias y personalidades y estoy íntimamente familiarizado con los mecanismos de las inteligencias espirituales acreditadas del gran universo. A pesar de mi conocimiento de los fenómenos de los universos, me veo constantemente confrontado por reacciones cósmicas que no puedo desentrañar plenamente. De continuo me encuentro con conspiraciones aparentemente fortuitas de la interasociación de fuerzas, energías, intelectos y espíritus que no puedo explicar de manera satisfactoria.

Soy enteramente competente para describir y analizar el mecanismo de todos los fenómenos que resultan directamente del funcionamiento del Padre Universal, del Hijo Eterno, del Espíritu Infinito, y, en gran medida, de la Isla del Paraíso. Lo que suscita mi perplejidad es el encontrarme con lo que parece ser el desempeño de sus coordinados misteriosos, los tres Absolutos de potencialidad. Estos Absolutos parecen suplantar la materia, trascender la mente, y sobrevenir al espíritu. Me siento continuamente confundido y a menudo perplejo por mi incapacidad para comprender estas transacciones complejas que atribuyo a la presencia y actuación del Absoluto No Cualificado, el Absoluto de Deidad, y el Absoluto Universal.

Estos Absolutos deben ser las presencias no plenamente reveladas en el amplio universo que, en los fenómenos de la potencia del espacio y en la función de otros superúltimos, hacen imposible para los físicos, para los filósofos e incluso para los religiosos predecir con certeza cómo los primordiales de fuerza, concepto y espíritu responderán a las exigencias hechas en una situación compleja de realidad que incluya ajustes supremos y valores últimos.

Hay también una unidad orgánica en los universos del tiempo y el espacio que parecería respaldar el entero tejido de los acontecimientos cósmicos. Esta presencia viviente del Ser Supremo evolutivo, esta Inmanencia del Incompleto Proyectado se manifiesta inexplicablemente de cuando en cuando por lo que parece ser una asombrosa y fortuita coordinación de acontecimientos en el universo aparentemente desconectados. Pero en el sentido más amplio los aparentes «accidentes» del cosmos son indudablemente parte del drama finito de la aventura espacio-temporal del Infinito en su manipulación eterna de los Absolutos.

For many ages the inhabitants of Urantia have misinterpreted the providence of God. There is a divine providence working in your world, but it is not the childish, arbitrary and material ministry that many mortals have conceived. The providence of God consists in the interwoven activities of heavenly beings and divine spirits who, according to cosmic laws, work ceaselessly for the honor of God and for the spiritual development of their children in the universe.

Can you not develop your conception of God's dealings with man to the point of recognizing that the motto of the universe is progress? Through prolonged ages the human race has struggled to reach its present state. Throughout all these millennia, Providence has been working on the plan of progressive evolution. These two ideas are not opposed in practice, but only in the misconceptions of man. Divine providence is never listed in opposition to true human progress, both temporal and spiritual. Providence is always in accord with the immutable and perfect nature of the supreme Lawgiver.

"God is faithful" and "all his commandments are just." "His faithfulness is established in the heavens." «Forever, O Lord, your word is established in the heavens. Your faithfulness is to all generations; You have laid the ground, and remain. " "He is a faithful Creator."

There are no limits to the forces and personalities that the Father can use to sustain his purpose and sustain his creatures. The Universal Father has not withdrawn from the administration of universes; He is not an inactive Deity. If God ceased to be the present sustainer of all creation, there would immediately be a universal collapse. Except God, there would be no such thing as reality. At this very moment, as well as during the remote ages of the past and the eternal future, God continues to sustain. The divine reach extends around the circle of eternity. The universe is not twisted like a clock that walks for a certain time and then ceases to function; All things are constantly being renewed. The Father unceasingly spills energy, light and life. The work of God is as literal as it is spiritual. "He extends the north over empty space and suspends the earth over nothing."

A being of my order can discover the ultimate harmony and detect a deep and vast coordination in the routine affairs of universal administration. Many things that appear disconnected and fortuitous to mortal thought, are shown orderly and constructive to my understanding. But many things happen in the universe that I do not fully understand. For a long time I have studied and I have some knowledge about the forces, energies, minds, morontia, spirits and recognized personalities of the local universes and of the superuniverses. I have a general understanding of how these agencies and personalities operate and I am intimately acquainted with the mechanisms of the accredited spiritual intelligences of the grand universe. In spite of my knowledge of the phenomena of the universes, I am constantly confronted by cosmic reactions that I can not fully unravel. I continually encounter seemingly fortuitous conspiracies of the interassociation of forces, energies, intellects, and spirits that I can not explain satisfactorily.

I am entirely competent to describe and analyze the mechanism of all phenomena that result directly from the workings of the Universal Father, the Eternal Son, the Infinite Spirit, and, to a large extent, the Isle of Paradise. What gives rise to my perplexity is to find myself with what seems to be the performance of their mysterious coordinates, the three Absolutes of potentiality. These Absolutes seem to supplant matter, to transcend the mind, and to come to the spirit. I am continually confused and often perplexed by my inability to understand these complex transactions that I attribute to the presence and performance of the Unqualified Absolute, the Absolute of Deity, and the Universal Absolute.

These absolutes must be the presences not fully revealed in the broad universe which, in the phenomena of the power of space and in the function of other superlatterns, make it impossible for physicists, philosophers and even religious to predict with certainty how Primordials of strength, concept and spirit will respond to the demands made in a complex situation of reality that includes supreme adjustments and ultimate values.

There is also an organic unity in the universes of time and space that would seem to support the entire fabric of cosmic events. This living presence of the evolutionary Supreme Being, this Immanence of the Projected Incomplete is inexplicably manifested from time to time by what appears to be an astonishing and fortuitous co-ordination of seemingly disconnected events in the universe. This must be the function of Providence - the domain of the Supreme Being and the Joint Actor.

I am inclined to believe that it is precisely this widespread, generally unrecognizable control of the coordination and interassociation of all phases and forms of universal activity that makes a mixture so variegated and seemingly so confused with physical, mental, moral, and spiritual phenomena Work so unequivocally for the glory of God and for the good of men and angels.

But in the broadest sense the apparent "accidents" of the cosmos are undoubtedly part of the finite drama of the space-time adventure of the Infinite in its eternal manipulation of the Absolutes.
