En poco más de una semana el Sol ha emitido una cantidad de llamaradas solares inusualmente alta, lo que ha desconcertado a los científicos de la NASA. Según los datos de la agencia, desde el 4 de septiembre y en un poco más de una semana en la superficie del astro se produjeron siete emisiones de radiación de distinta intensidad. Entre ellas, la llamarada más potente de la última década, la cual fue observada este 6 de septiembre.

Según datos del Observatorio de la Dinámica Solar de la NASA (Solar Dynamics Observatory, en inglés), el comportamiento del mayor astro de nuestro sistema es muy inusual, debido a que la etapa del ciclo en la que se encuentra no suele registrar tanta actividad.

"El ciclo solar actual comenzó en diciembre del 2008 y ahora está disminuyendo en intensidad y dirigiéndose hacia el mínimo solar. Es una fase en la que estas erupciones en el Sol son cada vez más raras", reza el informe de la organización sobre la última y mayor llamarada solar, de intensidad X9,3. "Sin embargo, la historia ha demostrado que pese a ello pueden ser intensivas", señala.

El ciclo de actividad solar cambia cada 11 años y actualmente el astro se aproxima a su final. Durante este tiempo la actividad del Sol aumenta y disminuye. Ahora estamos en el noveno año del ciclo, cuando aquella debería perder intensidad.
Las manchas "híbridas", posible causa de las llamaradas

Algunos científicos creen que las recientes llamaradas no son tan extrañas como podrían creerse. Tienen una explicación. Por ejemplo, el director del Observatorio de Altas Altitudes del Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Atmosféricas estadounidense (NCAR, por sus siglas en inglés), Scott McIntosh, cree que cuando la actividad disminuye los sistemas magnéticos subyacentes a sus manchas parecen estar en estrecho contacto cerca del ecuador.

En entrevista para Gizmodo, McIntosh afirmó que ello hace que el Sol produzca manchas solares "híbridas". Es decir, regiones que contienen campos magnéticos que se retuercen como el agua en los océanos de los hemisferios norte y sur.

"¿Recuerda cómo la rotación de la Tierra hace girar el agua en cada hemisferio en diferentes direcciones? El Sol hace lo mismo por la misma razón, que es la fuerza de Coriolis", explicó MacIntosh. "Esos sistemas son muy inestables. Normalmente estos tipos de manchas producen las peores y mayores erupciones y eyecciones de masa coronal", añadió.

The arrest of former banker is not the only one that has taken place around the manipulation of precious metals and enters into research that the Department of Justice carried out on possible manipulations and malpractices in the foreign exchange market during the period 2008- 2013. According to statements by the authorities , Flotron and his accomplices placed big orders in the market for precious metals futures contracts with the prior intention to settle before they were executed. At the same time, the manipulators were engaged in running smaller orders in opposite direction, taking advantage of becoming the market to make huge profits. The case against Flotron has been possible thanks to the collaboration of one of his accomplices, who has avoided facing the same criminal charges for collaborating with the Justice. The investigated transactions took place in the gold futures market between 2011 and 2012. And his problems do not end here because Swiss regulators also are investigating since 2014.

As we say, the arrest of Flotron is no exception in the market. Last June, the former employee of Deutsche Bank David Liew, pleaded guilty to fraud in a federal court in Chicago, taking responsibility in falsifying contracts of gold, silver, platinum and palladium. In April 2016,  the German bank reached an agreement with the authorities for his role in manipulating the price of gold . Nor is an exception. Goldman was also sued in November 2014 by the same malpractices.

Flotron se enfrenta a una posible pena de 25 años de cárcel

La detención del ex banquero no es la única que ha tenido lugar en torno a la manipulación de los metales preciosos y entra dentro de las investigaciones que el Departamento de Justicia estadounidense lleva a cabo sobre las posibles manipulaciones y malas prácticas en el mercado de divisas durante el periodo 2008- 2013. Precisamente, en esta investigación, Flotron fue uno de los colaboradores con los que contaron los fiscales estadounidenses y de ahí que su abogado se haya mostrado “sorprendido con el arresto”.

Según declaraciones de las autoridades, Flotron y sus cómplices colocaban grandes órdenes en el mercado de contratos futuros de metales preciosos con la intención previa de cancelarlos antes de que se ejecutasen. Al mismo tiempo, los manipuladores se dedicaban a ejecutar órdenes más pequeñas en sentido contrario, aprovechándose así del devenir del mercado para sacar pingues beneficios. La causa contra Flotron ha sido posible gracias a la colaboración de uno de sus cómplices, que ha evitado enfrentarse a los mismos cargos penales por colaborar con la Justica. Las operaciones investigadas tuvieron lugar en el mercado de futuro del oro entre los años 2011 y 2012. Y sus problemas no terminan aquí porque los reguladores suizos también lo están investigando desde el año 2014.

Como decimos, el arresto de Flotrón no es una excepción en el mercado. El pasado mes de junio, el ex trabajador de Deutsche Bank David Liew, se declaró culpable de fraude en un corte federal de Chicago, asumiendo su responsabilidad en la falsificación de contratos de oro, plata, platino y paladio. En abril de 2016, el banco alemán llegó a un acuerdo con las autoridades por su papel en la manipulación del precio del oro. Y tampoco constituye una excepción. Goldman también fue demandado en noviembre de 2014 por las mismas malas prácticas.

And you will encounter similar resistance, indifference and adulation as He did. Thus allow the Yosef experience--good, bad and ugly--serve as an example for yours.
