Global Economy: Between A Rock And A Hard Place

Well, it’s official: “Japan Inc.” is now “Bank of Japan Inc.”
Oh, OK, not officially official, but just about. As the Nikkei Asian Review reports, the Bank of Japan (BOJ) is now a top-10 shareholder in a whopping 40% of the listed companies in the country. That’s right, having purchased 25 trillion yen ($227 billion) worth of exchange-traded funds in the past eight years, Japan’s central bank is now one of the top 10 shareholders in 1,446 out of 3,735 companies listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Even the banksters admit they’ve painted themselves into a corner with their stock buying frenzy. BOJ Governor Kuroda concedes that if the bank persists in pumping its funny money into the markets there will be serious “side effects” that could harm the entire banking sector. So they should turn off the spigot and drain the monetary swamp by raising rates, right? Nope. As BOJ board member Yutaka Harada points out, the banksters can’t reverse the tide and raise interest rates because “bond and stock prices would decline and the yen would appreciate,” completely negating the entire point of the asset purchases in the first place.
So what does all of this mean?
Well, if you’re Japanese it means your central bank is creating (as one Japan-based asset manager puts it) “a new form of financial socialism” from which “Nobody can see a smooth exit strategy.”
But more broadly, the economic pickle that Japan finds itself in right now is merely a small-scale example of the dilemma that the global economy is facing. Caught between the low interest global liquidity trap and the high interest global debt trap. Caught between the globalist “free trade” nightmare and the emerging trade war/hot war nightmare. Caught between the expansion of a predatory system that is designed to drain the wealth of the average worker and the collapse of that system, which will assuredly drain the wealth of the average worker.
The straits between these economic rocks and hard places couldn’t be any narrower. It’s enough to make Scylla and Charybdis look like a cakewalk.
But for those who fail to comprehend the bigger picture here, it should be stressed that this isn’t just about interest rates and bond yields. The point here isn’t what level the stock market is at or whether some trader in Jeddah is going to be selling oil in dollars or yuan. The real point, as I have been trying to stress in this column for some time, is that economics is never just economics. The global economy rests on a monetary paradigm. That monetary paradigm emerges not from some economic calculation but, more often than not, the barrel of a gun.
It’s no coincidence that the Bretton-Woods system instituting the US dollar reserve paradigm arose from the ashes of WWII. It’s no coincidence that that paradigm began to break down when the US started using its reserve currency privileges to run up the debt for the military-industrial complex. It’s no coincidence that the petrodollar paradigm which replaced Bretton-Woods rested on a military and geopolitical alliance with the Saudis. It’s no coincidence that the erosion of that paradigm is giving rise to worries about a Third World War and, presumably, a monetary reset.
It’s no coincidence because all of these things are directly related. The breakdown of the economic order is intimately tied to the breakdown of the geopolitical order. It’s part and parcel of the change that is occurring in the monetary order. And it is inseparable from the rising military tensions that accompany the decline of the American unipolar order.
Let’s highlight another “small” story that fills in one of the pieces of this giant jigsaw puzzle.
Earlier this week, China pitched an idea to EU diplomats attending a Sino-European summit in Beijing: “Join us in an anti-US trade alliance and together we can win the global trade war!” Multiple suggestions were proffered for what form such an alliance might take. China could open up more of its market to EU business as a gesture of good will, for instance, or the two powers could launch a joint action against the US at the World Trade Organization.
The EU’s reaction was swift: “Thanks, but no thanks!”
You have to admit, it was a bold gambit. The idea of the EU throwing Uncle Sam (and the almighty dollar) overboard for a few paper promises about “freer trade” from the notoriously mercantilist ChiComs is absurd.
But think about what it means that such an idea was even proposed. A few years ago, even a few months ago, such a plan would have been unthinkable. Today, it is merely fanciful. And tomorrow . . . ?
This is what the breakdown of the global trading order is really about: Not the fluctuations in the trading accounts or currency reserves of this or that nation, but the reorganization of the alliances between those nations. And, if push comes to shove, the possible crossing of swords between nations.
Now couple this story with the BOJ shareholder story (or the Argentinian peso story, or the emerging market bond story, or the Iranian oil story, or any number of other stories from the world of economics, finance and trade) and the picture becomes even clearer: We are heading toward a crisis. The only question is what new order will emerge from that crisis.
As I discussed in my most recent edition of the “Questions For Corbett” series, a period of chaos, breakdown and crisis is necessary for a change in world order to occur. And whether that change leads to the New World Order that the powers-that-shouldn’t-be are constantly lusting after or a new flowering of human freedom is still very much up in the air.
In the end, that question will not be answered by the central bankers of the world. It will be answered by us. That answer lies in us withdrawing our support for the current system, choosing where to re-direct our energy and resources, refusing to fight the banksters’ wars for them, and creating the alternative system we want to see emerge from the chaos . . . or lying back and doing nothing. And I think we all know where that option leads.

Economía global: entre una roca y un lugar difícil

Bueno, es oficial: "Japan Inc." ahora es "Bank of Japan Inc."

Ah, vale, oficialmente no es oficial, pero casi. Como informa el Nikkei Asian Review, el Banco de Japón (BOJ) es ahora uno de los 10 principales accionistas en la friolera de 40% de las compañías que cotizan en bolsa en el país. Así es, después de haber comprado 25 billones de yenes ($ 227 mil millones) en fondos cotizados en los últimos ocho años, el banco central de Japón es ahora uno de los 10 principales accionistas en 1,446 de las 3,735 compañías que cotizan en la Bolsa de Tokio.


Incluso los banqueros admiten que se han arrinconado con su frenesí de compra de acciones. El gobernador del BOJ, Kuroda, admite que si el banco persiste en inyectar su dinero en los mercados, habrá serios "efectos secundarios" que podrían dañar a todo el sector bancario. Entonces, ¿Qué significa todo esto?


Bueno, si eres japonés significa que tu banco central está creando (como dice un administrador de activos con sede en Japón) "una nueva forma de socialismo financiero" de la cual "nadie puede ver una estrategia de salida sin problemas".

Pero en términos más generales, la economía en la que se encuentra Japón en este momento es simplemente un ejemplo a pequeña escala del dilema que enfrenta la economía global. Atrapado entre la trampa de liquidez global de bajo interés y la trampa de deuda global de alto interés. Atrapado entre la pesadilla globalista del "libre comercio" y la guerra comercial emergente / pesadilla de guerra caliente. Atrapado entre la expansión de un sistema predatorio que está diseñado para drenar la riqueza del trabajador promedio y el colapso de ese sistema, lo que sin duda consumirá la riqueza del trabajador promedio.

El estrecho entre estas rocas económicas y los lugares duros no podría ser más estrecho. Es suficiente para hacer que Scylla y Charybdis parezcan un juego de niños.

Pero para aquellos que no comprenden el panorama general aquí, debe enfatizarse que esto no se trata solo de las tasas de interés y los rendimientos de los bonos. El punto aquí no es a qué nivel está el mercado de valores o si algún comerciante en Jeddah va a vender petróleo en dólares o yuanes. El verdadero punto, como he estado tratando de enfatizar en esta columna durante algún tiempo, es que la economía nunca es solo economía. La economía global se basa en un paradigma monetario. Ese paradigma monetario surge no de un cálculo económico, sino que, en la mayoría de los casos, del arma de fuego.


No es coincidencia que el sistema de Bretton-Woods que instituyó el paradigma de la reserva del dólar estadounidense surgió de las cenizas de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. No es coincidencia que ese paradigma comenzó a quebrarse cuando Estados Unidos comenzó a utilizar sus privilegios de moneda de reserva para aumentar la deuda del complejo militar-industrial. No es coincidencia que el paradigma del petrodólar que reemplazó a Bretton Woods descansara en una alianza militar y geopolítica con los saudíes. No es coincidencia que la erosión de ese paradigma esté dando lugar a preocupaciones sobre una Tercera Guerra Mundial y, presumiblemente, un reinicio monetario.


No es una coincidencia porque todas estas cosas están directamente relacionadas. El colapso del orden económico está íntimamente ligado a la ruptura del orden geopolítico. Es parte integrante del cambio que está ocurriendo en el orden monetario. Y es inseparable de las crecientes tensiones militares que acompañan al declive del orden unipolar estadounidense.

Resaltemos otra historia "pequeña" que llena una de las piezas de este rompecabezas gigante.


A principios de esta semana, China lanzó una idea a los diplomáticos de la UE que asistieron a una cumbre chino-europea en Beijing: "¡Únete a una alianza comercial antiestadounidense y juntos podremos ganar la guerra comercial global!". Se ofrecieron múltiples sugerencias sobre qué forma alianza podría tomar. China podría abrir más de su mercado a los negocios de la UE como un gesto de buena voluntad, por ejemplo, o las dos potencias podrían lanzar una acción conjunta contra los Estados Unidos en la Organización Mundial del Comercio.

La reacción de la UE fue rápida: "¡Gracias, pero no gracias!"


Tienes que admitir que fue una táctica audaz. La idea de que la UE arroje por la borda al Tío Sam (y al todopoderoso dólar) por unas pocas promesas en papel sobre el "libre comercio" de los notoriamente mercantilistas ChiComs es absurda.

Pero piense en lo que significa que tal idea incluso fue propuesta. Hace unos años, incluso hace unos meses, un plan como ese habría sido impensable. Hoy, es simplemente fantasioso. Y mañana . . . ?


De esto se trata realmente el desglose del orden comercial mundial: no las fluctuaciones en las cuentas comerciales o las reservas de divisas de esta u otra nación, sino la reorganización de las alianzas entre esas naciones. Y, si viene el empuje, el posible cruce de espadas entre naciones.


Ahora une esta historia con la historia del accionista de BOJ (o la historia del peso argentino, o la historia de bonos del mercado emergente, o la historia del petróleo iraní, o cualquier cantidad de otras historias del mundo de la economía, las finanzas y el comercio) y la imagen se vuelve uniforme más claro: Nos dirigimos hacia una crisis. La única pregunta es qué nuevo orden surgirá de esa crisis.


Como mencioné en mi edición más reciente de la serie "Preguntas para Corbett", es necesario un período de caos, crisis y crisis para que se produzca un cambio en el orden mundial. Y si ese cambio conduce al Nuevo Orden Mundial que los poderes-que-no-deberían-estar constantemente codiciando o un nuevo florecimiento de la libertad humana todavía está en el aire.


Al final, esa pregunta no será respondida por los banqueros centrales del mundo. Será respondido por nosotros. Esa respuesta radica en que retiramos nuestro apoyo al sistema actual, eligiendo dónde redirigir nuestra energía y recursos, negándonos a luchar contra las guerras de los banqueros por ellos, y creando el sistema alternativo que queremos que surja del caos. . . o recostado y sin hacer nada. Y creo que todos sabemos a dónde lleva esa opción.

Quim Torra, el tapado del gobierno español.

Apenas ya hablo de política porque la traición que se cuece ha provocado en mí una autodefensa.
Quim Torra fue a Madrid con su lacito amarillo, con una botella de Ratafía y quizás creía que el universo se pararía.
El President autonómico se siente muy creído de sí mismo por su superioridad intelectual, pero inane a todas luces.

Pedro Sánchez escuchó en modo "per una orella me entra, per l'altra em surt i pel cul em fa tururut..." 
Y por eso dijo que, a lo mejor, siendo buenos, nos darían las transferencias que ya estaban aprobadas en el primer Estatut.

Y para recordarnos quien manda, hoy Llarenas ha suspendido como diputados a los presos políticos y a los exiliados.
Los partidos independentistas, perdón,processionistes, han salido corriendo hablando de "calidad democrática" y de "alterar mayorías", o sea, es como si en un partido de fútbol internacional, unos nazis rusos te meten una paliza y amenazas con un "se lo diré a mi padre, buaaaaaaa"...

La Arrimadas no manda como un elefante en una cacharrería porque el pueblo catalán, aunque engañado, tiene cordura. Pero no sé si será eterna.

Todo esto ocurre porque no les da la gana de tirar hacia adelante con una República aprobada -recuerden- mediante dos referéndums, un plebiscito y una votación parlamentaria. 

La traición de ERC y el PDeCAT es tan grande que ya me han perdido como votante. Solo me queda la CUP. Y no solo eso, he decidido no llevar más el lazo, ni me manifestaré para que los saquen de la cárcel (salvo por los Jordis). Están en prisión porque fueron una cobardes que iban de farol.
¿Cómo creían que podrían librarse de un acto de secesión?
¿Verdad que los ingleses no juzgaron a Washington?
Y por eso me alegro que el próximo 11 de septiembre el lema de la ANC sea FEM LA REPÚBLICA CATALANA.

Posiblemente le tengo un poco más de simpatía a Puigdemont por lo que representa y porque tengo el convencimiento que fue traicionado por todos, aunque empieza a dar pena. FEM PENA.

Supongo que alguien dirá que también es la comunidad donde más empresas se crearon, de acuerdo, pero el porcentaje no es el mismo.
